About This Spot

Stepping into Hélou - Sushi House Scandinave feels like discovering a quiet, unpretentious gem tucked away between the vibrant neighborhoods of Jourdain and Buttes Chaumont. The atmosphere is calm yet inviting, the kind of place where the rhythm slows just enough to truly appreciate what’s on your plate and the moment you’re sharing. It’s a neighborhood spot that doesn’t shout for attention but quietly earns it through genuine warmth and thoughtful touches.

The interior welcomes you with a simple, fresh decor that hints at its Nordic inspiration without overshadowing the heart of the experience—the food. Here, every detail seems considered, from the casual, easy pace of service to the subtle bursts of color and textures found on each dish. Whether you settle in after a stroll through the park or pop in on an unexpectedly busy Sunday evening, the space feels comfortably lived-in, encouraging you to relax and savor.

At Hélou, the menu unfolds like a small story about fresh ingredients and international inspirations meeting in Paris. The sushi doesn’t aim to replicate Japan precisely but instead strikes a balance, blending classic rolls with seasonal, local influences and even Scandinavian simplicity. Alongside the sushi, dishes like poke bowls and vegetable-forward tajines offer a respectful nod to balanced, healthy eating. Sweet notes of blueberry chia pudding or mochi round out the experience with delicate, surprising touches.

It’s a place well suited to families and friends alike—where even sushi newcomers and seasoned lovers can find common ground. The value lies not just in the flavors but in the care that goes into each plate and the moments around the table. It’s easy to feel like you’ve stumbled upon a little secret, a Parisian corner where the pace aligns with the gentle art of enjoying food made with genuine attention and simple joy.

After a long day in Paris, my daughters were craving something a little more familiar to them other than classic French cuisine (which my wife and I were enjoying very much). They both were craving sushi and we happened to find this place using Google maps. We were expecting some "basic" California rolls, and did not expect the quality food that came out that was made with care and attention.

Nicely located between Jourdain and the buttes Chaumont, Helou serves fresh and tasty Japanese food it's very good value for money and the interior is nicely decorated.

The presentation was definitely different from a traditional Japanese sushi spot. That being said - the fish was tasty. I wouldn't recommend the ramen though. Loved the self serve miso soup

A great random find! Fantastic Ramen in a quiet street on the way to Parc des Buttes - Chaumont. Stopped for dinner on the way to the park and had a pleasant surprise. Busy on a Sunday night which is always a good sign. Super fresh ingredients, great flavours and large portions. We ate the chicken Ramen and the Poke bowl. The house ice tea with peach and Yuzu was lovely too.

2nd time coming to the new updated version of helou. The new sushi restaurant is amazing. Food is delicious and reasonably priced. I’m just sorry I do not live in Paris. They would get tired of seeing me

I am a foodie - Got to say - what an amazing place. I’m from New York and a tough critic so when we tried this place the first time I was so impressed. I couldn’t believe how good it was. :. They are kind, caring and so clean. We sat outside the first time. Dined in the second and then it’s been my go to for pick up as well. The shrimp roll and the soup and onigiri were simply the best! Not expensive either. We have been back there 4 times on this vacation. They let us sit and enjoy our food. They were attentive! The owners we met later and this young man is truly a star in my eyes. It’s a family business. I respect that. I wish I could take this place back to New York. All I can say is that if you go, you will enjoy it! I’m not paid for this but, - I wanted to write out of love. Such a nice street too. Not loud. Quite pretty I got to say! So hey, if in the 19th you got to make your way there to try it. Hope this helps as they deserve your business. They def have mine every time I am back here!

My friend recommended this restaurant while I was on holiday in Paris, and I’m so glad I went. It was my first time trying sushi with beef, and I absolutely loved it. If you’re a tea person, I highly recommend the Genmaicha – it pairs perfectly with the meal. All of my friends were happy with their dishes too, which made the whole experience even better. Definitely a place worth visiting!
